XM Home Antenna Review

Unfortunately this didn't work with out XM boombox without altering our radio.The plug was not the configuration- not to worry - a dremmel tool cut the sides of our boombox and we made it work. This was a HUGE disappointment.The plug should not have a bend in it, it should go straight into the receptacle.I would not reccomned this unless you are handy with a dremmel tool.

Terk SR1 Glass-mount XM Satellite Radio Antenna Review

DO NOT buy one of these.I won't go so far as to specifically blame the seller from whom I bought mine, but it's hard for me to believe he wasn't aware of the problems associated with this antenna.First of all, Terk is no longer an independent company, but rather a division of Audiovox, who doesn't seem to be particularly concerned about providing any support for the Terk brand.Second, the SR1 is now considered an "out-of-date" product, and is afforded only the "Sorry, there's nothing more I can do for you," response when you call Audiovox customer service.

While the "through-the-glass" technology seems like a wonderful idea, Terk's version of it is anything but.I can only ask that you believe me when I tell you that I am absolutely ANAL/OBSESSIVE/COMPULSIVE about things such as installation of an antenna like this.The glass, both inside and out, was as clean and contaminant -free as any piece of glass has ever been.The temperature was right, and the actual application was performed exactly as directed.

The interior half of the unit fell off 3 days after installation, and the exterior part only stayed in place for 4 days more.And when each part fell off, guess what broke in both of them -- the absolutely critical induction coils!

NO WARRANTY.NO RETURN.NO REPLACEMENT.NO SUPPORT.NO GOOD!

American International XM-2SAA XM Roof-Mount Antenna Review

This is a universal satellite radio antenna (universal in the sense it will work with either Sirius or XM satellite car radios).

I had to replace my antenna for my Sirius satellite radio as the cord had cracked and was no longer acquiring a signal. This XM version was the only one available at the store I was at, so I bought it, realizing that the antenna for XM and Sirius (now that they have joined companies), was interchangeable.

The antenna fit perfectly into my satellite radio, however, the reception of this antenna was inferior to the reception to my previous Sirius antenna. The 'bars', indicating signal strength, are usually only 1 out of 3 (rarely 2) and the signal, frequently cut out, even in very 'open-sky' areas.

Conclusion:

The reception was unreliable and sporadic. I would not buy this brand of antenna again.

Belkin F5X003 Home Antenna for XM Review

This Belkin XM home antenna provides about the same signal gain as the original Delphi home antenna, but it is only about 2/3 the size and weight, making it an attractive option for travel.The actual metal plug configuration is, or would be, compatibile with all my various XMSR configuations here.Here comes the "but:"

In typical corporate bonehead style, Belkin has chosen a 90-degree plug for its antenna, whereas the original Delphi home antenna uses a straight plug.Why would they do that?My Delphi XM2go home dock has plenty of room for the right-angle plug, so maybe that's as far as they looked, it fits in there in a sorta snazzy-looking way.It also fits my Delphi SkyFi home dock, although barely (for the same reason), as well as my Altec Lansing inMotion iMX2 mobile speaker system for the XM2go.However, it does *not* fit into my Delphi portable boom box for the Delphi SkyFi; that unit has a cylindrical black collar that extends well above the actual jack, and although the actual plug is surely compatible, the Belkin F5X003's 90-degree plug housing will not extend far enough into the collar to reach the jack.Real dumb.Otherwise, I'd probably have given it four or maybe five stars.

Terk XM6 XM Radio Home and Commercial Weatherproof Antenna Review

XM was the only alternative when the last Classical FM station in South Florida was turned into a Hip Hop station.I love the service all except for the fly in the ointment that sometimes the signal is flawless and other times it fades in and out like an echo in the alps.I bought extensions to position the antenna in every possible angle and position with no success.I did a search yesterday after seriously considering tuning my XM receiver with a sledge hammer, and found this Terk on Amazon and had it overnighted.All I can say is for the first time in a year I have a consistent clear signal and uninterrupted music.I think part of the reason is that you use coax cable to connect it to the receiver unit; in my case the Polk Audio XRt12.I had been using the supplied cable and antenna which is thinner and smaller. Back to loving satellite radio.Highly recommended if you have trouble with your signal.
